Just last night, Wine Tripper sold its 200th copy! To celebrate this milestone I’m lowering the price for today and tomorrow to only 99 cents. If you have been thinking about buying Wine Tripper but haven’t yet, now is the time. If you are a happy Wine Tripper customer, tell your friends and let them know about the sale.
Finally a big thank you to all of the people who have purchased Wine Tripper in the ten months that its been for sale. I appreciate your business and I will keep making Wine Tripper better and better.

Recently I had a phone interview with Mike Lloyd of News 1130. The thirty second clips played last week and I’m posting them here now if you’d like to hear me talk to him about Wine Tripper.
“Like to do a little wine-tripping? There’s an app for that. News1130′s Mike Lloyd is talking to the man from Coquitlam behind Wine Tripper BC.”
Listen to clip #1
“It’s coming up on prime winery time in the Okanagan, the Fraser Valley and on Vancouver Island. News1130′s Mike Lloyd is talking to a man from Coquitlam who’s developed an app for that!”

There are a lot of changes for Wine Tripper in the new 1.5 version. The biggest is that we are announcing Wine Tripper – Ontario Edition. Now you can tour the wineries of Ontario as easily as the wineries of BC with only your iPhone and this application.
Inside both editions of Wine Tripper (BC and Ontario) though, some exciting changes are taking place. We’re adding a social element to allow you to easily see what other Wine Tripper users are saying about the wineries.
 |
For example, now when you are looking at the winery listings, you can see icons that show you what the other users are thinking.
In the image to the left you can see that the Silver Sage Winery has an average rating of 4 stars from all Wine Tripper users; 3 hearts mean that three other Wine Tripper users have marked this winery as a favorite and 1 pencil means that one other Wine Tripper user has made a note about this winery that you can read. |
| The winery screen has been updated to show you more clearly your own opinions of the winery but also what other people are thinking as well.
In the Favorites section, you can see how many other people have marked this winery as a favorite other than yourself.
In the Ratings section, you can see your rating for this winery as well as the average rating of all other Wine Tripper users who have rating this winery as well.
In the Notes section, you can see the note that you have written and in addition under your note, you can see that two other users have written notes about this winery as well. You can simply touch the row to view the other two notes. |
 |
 |
This is the screen that shows you the notes that other people have written as well as when the note was written. |
We’re very exciting about these additions to Wine Tripper and hope that you will be as well.
Happy Wine Touring!

Wine Tripper has its first major data update available for its users. This update adds over 60 new wineries to Wine Tripper.
In addition, I was able to add an often requested feature to allow users to choose “Rosé” when adding wines.
To get this update, simply start Wine Tripper, it automatically checks our update server once per day to see if a new update is available. When it checks you will be prompted to download the new update. Just touch “Yes” and in a short period of time, Wine Tripper will be up to date.
Be sure to checkout the full list of wineries in Wine Tripper here:

After many nights of work, a new version of Wine Tripper has finally been released. Overall, this release includes a lot of polish that I wasnt able to do in the first version and a number of bug fixes. Of course, there are some cool new features as well.
New in this release:
- Editing wines and wineries has been cleaned up to be a lot more iPhone-like.
- The Region map now includes a legend that tells you what the different pin colors on the map mean. For example, a green pin means that the winery is open, if the pin has a star in it, then it is one of your favorites.
- Two new varietals were added, Blend and Unknown for those times when the varietal list isn’t enough
- You can now choose to share your favorites, ratings and notes anonymously with other Wine Tripper users. With this feature turned on, you can use the Wine Tripper website to see what other users think of the wineries and wines of British Columbia. You can see this information by clicking the Wineries and Wines tabs in the navigation bar of this page
- Wine Tripper can now update its winery data on the fly. Now if a new wineries is added to our master list or its information is updated, Wine Tripper will prompt you to update your data as well.
For a more complete overview of the new features in Wine Tripper, take a look at the Home page.

Kevin Blucke recently posted a review on Wine Tripper on his site http://www.bcwineries.net. Its a really good review of Wine Tripper, please take a look and while you are there, check out all of the great British Columbia wine content at Kevins site.
From Kevins review:
“For me, a person that lives on my iPhone, I am extremely happy with this app. I highly recommend this to anyone that is going to be traveling between wineries this season.”
